Whether you’re just starting out or have felt unsure about using flash in your work, this mentorship session is created to simplify the process, build your confidence, and help you create intentional, beautifully lit images in a studio environment.
This is more than just a lesson, it’s a guided experience where you’ll actively learn, practice, and create in real time.
What to Expect
2-Hour In-Studio Mentorship Session
You’ll receive a fully guided, in depth session where we take our time walking through each step in a relaxed and supportive environment. Questions are always encouraged, and everything is explained in a way that feels approachable and easy to understand.
Lighting & Flash Foundations
We’ll begin by building a strong understanding of the basics, including:
How studio lighting works
The difference between natural light and flash
Breaking down flash in a simple, clear way
Understanding how light shapes your subject
Hands-On Flash Training
You won’t just watch, you’ll actively practice and apply what you’re learning.
During this portion, you’ll learn:
How to properly use an external flash
Where and how to position your lighting
Understanding angles, power, and direction
How to use and connect a trigger system
How to confidently adjust settings while shooting
Live Model Experience
You’ll work with a live model during your session to bring everything together in real time.

You’ll be guided through posing, lighting adjustments, and creative direction so you can see everything come together seamlessly.
Creative Lighting Techniques
We’ll go beyond the basics and explore how to use lighting intentionally and creatively:
- Soft, airy, and timeless lighting styles
- Bold and dramatic lighting setups
- Using light to create mood and depth
- Learning how to adjust quickly and confidently during a shoot
You’ll also keep the images you capture during the session, giving you real content to review, edit, and add to your portfolio.

Your learning doesn’t end after the session.
If you book a future a shoot at the studio at IndigoSkyStudios Grand Prairie, TX, you’ll have access to continued support and guidance, including hands on assistance if needed, so you feel confident stepping into your own sessions.
Investment
$675 | 2hr -Hour Mentorship Session
A $65 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date, with the remaining balance due the day of the class.
